Camp Kimtu
Camp Kimtu is one of Willow Creek’s most familiar public summer recreation areas and a convenient location for visitors seeking river access close to town.
Popular local river areas can be busiest on hot summer afternoons and weekends. Earlier arrival generally gives visitors more time to assess parking, access and river conditions.
Big Rock
Big Rock is another primary public recreation location used by Willow Creek residents and visitors seeking convenient access to the Trinity River.

Mountain Lakes

Trinity Lake

Which destinations are best for beginners?

Can I take river tubes to all of these destinations?
No. River tubes are intended for suitable local river recreation rather than every destination in the Adventure Guide. Paddleboards and kayaks are generally better suited to the lakes and coastal destinations featured here.
Can I swim at the coastal lagoons?
The coastal destinations in this guide are featured primarily for paddleboarding and kayaking. Coastal water can be very cold even when inland temperatures are hot.
What should I know before paddling Humboldt Bay?
Humboldt Bay is tidal and conditions vary greatly by location. Check tides, wind, currents, boat traffic and the intended launch area before entering the water. Choose protected areas appropriate for your experience.
Do I need to tell River Dog Outfitters where I am going?

What if the weather changes after I reserve?

Can I visit more than one destination during a multi-day rental?
Eligible multi-day Adventure To-Go rentals may allow customers to explore more than one suitable destination, provided all rental, cleaning, transportation and return requirements are followed.
Are these the only places I can take a To-Go rental?
No. The Adventure Guide highlights several of the most interesting regional options near Willow Creek. Additional suitable destinations may be possible as long as the equipment, access, activity and rental agreement allow it.
